Discover the fascinating world of herbaria and botanical science in this workshop. Herbaria serve as permanent archives critical for biodiversity, ecology, and conservation. Learn what a herbarium is, how it’s organized, and how specimens are prepared. Topics covered include the purpose and importance of herbarium specimens, collecting and preserving methods, plant identification, characteristics of high-quality specimens, and the significance of botanical Latin names. Participants will create their own herbarium specimen, blending science and artistry in this timeless practice. (Note: Individuals with camphor allergy or G6PD deficiency are advised not to participate for safety reasons.)
