Description
High school students can join free cleanups at locations like Shek O Beach, typically lasting 2 hours (e.g., 10 am–12 pm). Volunteers collect and sort trash, including plastics, fishing ropes, and styrofoam, using tools like the Clean Swell app to record data for scientific reporting. Registration via Eventbrite is required 24 hours in advance, and cancellations must be notified to allow others to join, as events often sell out.
Reasons to participate
Environmental Impact: Contribute to removing millions of kilograms of trash, protecting Hong Kong’s coastlines and marine life from pollution.
Community Engagement: Join a diverse group of volunteers, fostering teamwork and shared commitment to a cleaner city, with over 1 million participants since 2000.
Free and Accessible: No cost to participate, with all materials provided, making it an easy entry point for high schoolers to start volunteering.
