Description
This 6-week online pod offers an in-depth exploration of Alzheimer's disease with a focus on modifiable lifestyle factors that influence risk. Students will gain foundational neuroscience knowledge, learn about Alzheimer's pathology, and study lifestyle factors that may reduce disease risk. The course emphasizes scientific research skills including literature search, scientific writing, and peer review. Each student will select a topic related to Alzheimer's or a modifiable risk factor to develop a mock review paper and deliver a final presentation. The small group (2-6 students) format encourages discussion and mentorship under Joanna, a PhD candidate in Neuroscience at UC San Diego. Sessions occur weekly on various days and times (e.g., Tuesdays 8:30 pm EDT / 5:30 pm PDT) depending on cohort availability, from June 3 to August 13, 2025.
